In the last century, four of every five deaths caused by earthquakes occurred in developing countries. Of the people living in earthquake-threatened cities, 9 out of every 10 are in developing countries. 3ei is a nonprofit and tax exempt 501 (C)(3) corporation that seeks to improve building structures in rural localities around the world in order to save lives in the event of an earthquake. 3ei is not a relief agency and it achieves its goals through proactive engineering and educational programs, in collaboration with world-class universities.
